How to migrate your wallet from other Web3 extensions

If you already use a browser extension wallet, you don’t need a new seed or a fresh address to try Wyro. Wyro is self-custodial: importing your recovery phrase (or private key) gives the same accounts you already own — on Avalanche, Ethereum, and other EVM networks your phrase derives. Once imported, that wallet works across Wyro web, mobile, and the Wyro extension.

Before you start

• Work somewhere private. Never share your seed phrase in chat, email, or a screenshot.
• Prefer a hardware wallet or a fresh device if you’re unsure about malware.
• Wyro (and any honest wallet) will never ask you to type your seed on a website form outside the official Wyro product.

Option A — Import your recovery phrase (recommended)

1. Open your current extension (MetaMask, Core, Rabby, Phantom EVM, etc.).
2. Reveal the Secret Recovery Phrase / seed (usually 12 or 24 words). Write it down offline if you don’t already have a backup.
3. Open Wyro on web, mobile, or the Wyro browser extension and choose Import wallet / I already have a wallet.
4. Enter the words in the same order. Double-check spelling.
5. Set a strong unlock (biometrics, passcode, or password on that surface). This locks Wyro locally — it is not a replacement for the seed.
6. Confirm your address matches the one you used in the old extension (same derivation path / account index).

You’re done. Balances and history for that address show up because it’s the same onchain identity — and you can use it from any Wyro surface.

Option B — Import a single private key

Use this if you only want one account, or your extension exported a hex private key.

1. In the old wallet, export the private key for that account (not the seed, unless you intend to import the whole wallet).
2. In Wyro (web, mobile, or extension), choose Import private key.
3. Paste carefully. Never store the key in cloud notes.
4. Verify the address matches before moving sizeable funds.

Option C — Keep the old wallet and just send funds

If you’d rather not import a seed into a new product:

1. Create a new Wyro wallet (on any surface) and back up its seed securely.
2. Copy your Wyro receive address.
3. From the old extension, send tokens (and enough native gas) to that address.
4. Wait for confirmation, then confirm balances in Wyro web, mobile, or extension.

This creates a new address — useful for a clean start, but you’ll pay network fees.

After migration

• Confirm you can see AVAX / ETH / tokens you expect on each surface you use.
• Test a small send before large transfers.
• Store the seed offline (metal or paper). Delete photos of it.
• You can keep the old extension installed; Wyro and other wallets can hold the same keys. Just don’t leave seeds in insecure places.

Troubleshooting

• Wrong address after import — You may have used a different account index or derivation path. Try the next account in Wyro, or import the specific private key for that account.
• Missing tokens — Check you’re on the right network, and that the token is a standard ERC-20 / ARC-20. Custom tokens may need to be added once.
• “Invalid seed” — Words must be BIP-39 English, correct order, no extra spaces.

Wyro never holds your keys. Migration is just teaching Wyro — on web, mobile, or extension — the secret you already control.
